The Antidote to Your Doubts

I doubt myself constantly.

It’s something that I have to work tirelessly on.

Sadly, I’m not alone in this.

Even those at the very top, your idols, whether in sport, business, film, or music they face doubts.

Unfortunately, many of us can’t get past them.

But there’s a cure for those of us that get struck down from time to time.

What I’ve now called – Anti Doubts

Let’s dig in…

In a world that’s hell bent on selling us a perfect story, you’d be forgiven before you made a move in the world right now.

Doubting yourself could sound like:

“What if I don’t get it right?”

“What if people laugh at me?”

“What if they find out I’m no good?”

All this second guessing stops us from taking action.

We proscrastinate.

All symptoms of perfectionism. The need to be correct, perfect, rather than done.

And that’s ok. You’re setting high standards, so don’t beat yourself up too much.

But we can move past it through action.

So I came up with the idea of creating your “Anti-Doubts”, your go to actions that are the antidote to doubts you feel. You see what I did there?

It’s based on this fundamental notion:

Doubt can only be removed through action”

So whatever your doubt is, we want to create an action to conquer it quickly.

Before we get a chance to second guess over and over.

Grab your journal or notepad and run through this process.

Step 1: Your Goal

Pick the goal that you are looking to achieve.

Example: Giving a presentation.

Step 2: Your doubts

Write down what doubts are getting in the way?

Example: Messing up your lines, Looking silly, Not knowledgable enough.

Step 3: Your Anti-Doubts

Think of the advice you would give someone else if they were doubting themselves.

Example: Write the speech, practice to a friend, record yourself, do research.

Whatever Anti-Doubts to come up with, run at them!

Don’t hesitate. Take action.

You’ll learn along the way, and you’ll learn way more than if you never gave it a shot.
